My brothers and sisters,
The forum was amazing.
The word was shared by Ps Sekou Abodunrin in its rawness, and it left me thinking about my own understanding of the word of God and it’s application.
The forum was also enlightening. I left rebuked, challenged, more eager to learn and hopeful that the everyday challenges can be overcome, through the practical application of God’s word as well as being well aware of how society, culture and tradition can aid, or hinder our thought pattern, reasoning and outlook in discerning and seeking a spouse.

It was good to be reminded of a few points, which will serve as reminders:
Society, tradition and culture can place adverse pressure on those who wish to marry. It is important not to be pressured into rushing and making such a huge commitment.
Enter relationships with your eyes open. Ask many questions, and seek to understand, their viewpoints, standards and expectations. The question is, can you accommodate them without feeling undue pressure not only from the relationship maintenance but from the extended family as well?
You will always fall into error when you mix culture, tradition and the word of God together.
God can bring people together, but ultimately, the decision and the consequences are entirely on you.
Many thanks to the organisers of the event, the speakers for your wealth of knowledge and OFNC for the privilege and opportunity to speak with you all!

PS: Also, I would like to add that in my personal opinion, one must always have at the back of their minds is that life will happen after marriage. Don’t think one can predict the outcome of any challenges, especially those unforeseen, whether it be health or careers, even bereavement. Marriage is an earthly gift, but it is limited to earth. We are spiritual beings made for eternity. I have heard disheartening testimonies concerning this, and my encouragement to you is that no matter what happens, you will always have a family within the body of Christ.
